September 2021

The September meeting of the Garden Group was held at Welton Village Hall on Tuesday, the 28th.  Mary Howes of West Wolds U3A gave a very informative talk about Clematis.   She showed some wonderful pictures of different types and varieties and explained how different methods of pruning will affect the production of flowers.   She also demonstrated taking cuttings and collecting seed heads.   Members were able to ask questions and everyone left a little wiser about these beautiful plants.

Garden  Group visited the walled garden at Baumber for their second meeting this year.  25 0f us spent a lovely couple of hours, and it was so good to be able to meet again.  It’s a garden  still being developed with new planting and plenty of interest. There is a good plant sale area and 3 or 4 shepherds’ huts with crafts and items for sale and of course the usual refreshment area.
