Architecture

Group Leader: Luke Pickering

Objectives of the Group

We are a large and friendly Group, who are interested in the buildings and settlements of the local area. We arrange talks in the winter months and trips to towns, villages and individual buildings once the weather gets warmer. We have a varied programme which includes the ancient and modern, usually with knowledgeable local guides. Our tours often finish in the local pub or teashop!

We meet on the third Thursday of the month, generally at 10.30am. Some of our visits do have limited numbers and we have Booking Forms at the General Meetings where you can put your name down. If you have any questions, please phone Luke on 07774 251197.

See below for photos taken at some of our events, and reports are accessible.

VISIT TO BRIGG HERITAGE CENTRE

1st FLOOR, THE ANGEL, MARKET PLACE, BRIGG. DN20 8LD

FRIDAY 16 MAY 2025 AT 10.15AM FOR 10.30AM

The market town of Brigg is around 28 miles from Lincoln, via the A15. Please meet up at the reception area of the Brigg Heritage Centre. We will be joined by our guide and then taken to the introductory gallery for welcome tea/coffee and biscuits.

An informal tour will follow, with time for members to go off independently to revisit the BHC gallery spaces and temporary exhibitions. There is also an option to step out into Brigg town for a sign-posting/ orientation walk. The visit is expected to take approximately 2 hours.

The closest car parking is the Angel Carpark. North Lincs Car Parks are coinless and ticketless terminals and you can get a free 2 hour slot at the machines. Alternatively, there is 3 hours free parking at Tesco (Barnard Avenue DN20 8AT). This may be the best option to give you ample parking time.

There is no formal charge for the tour. However, donations to BHC funds are welcome. A donation of £5 from each member is suggested and, as usual, we will collect the payments on arrival.

A maximum of 24 members can be taken on the tour.
